Higher levels of pollution have substantially increased our potential for skin
damage - and aging. No worries. Our multi-action age defenders with rare
Silver Tip White Tea surround skin in a virtually impenetrable protective
bubble that intercepts damage before it causes lines, wrinkles, dark spots
and loss of firmness.

Silver Tip White Tea
Grown exclusively in China’s Fujian Province,
White Tea was prized for centuries by
emperors in China’s famed “Elixir of
Immortality.” The legend has more than a leaf of
truth to it. White Tea contains the highest
amount of EGCG (epigallo catechin gallate) of
all teas. EGCG is the powerful antioxidant that
protects skin from age-accelerating free
This small, flowering plant helps repair past
oxidative damage so when cells produce they
are healthier and better functioning.
This plant extract, contained in the skin of red
grapes, helps protect the body against aging. It

Maritime Pine trees grow in an unspoiled
natural forest (free of pesticides or herbicides)
near the Bordeaux region of France. This
super-antioxidant is often called the “youth
nutrient.” Extract from its bark contains high
levels of bioflavonoids that help protect skin
cells against “glycoxidative” damage that can
undermine skin’s defenses and make it more
vulnerable to UV exposure. Maritime Pine bark
extract helps protect against glycoxidation, just
like the bark protects the tree.
A genus of trees long used in Ayurvedic
therapies, Boswellia sets up a secure
sanctuary against age-accelerating static and
stress. This extract trigers the natural
production of anti-stress proteins in skin and
acts like a shock absorber, bouncing all
negativity away from skin to help protect it
against environmental damage.

Q: What are free radicals?
A: Free radicals are unstable molecules that can cause damage to the proteins and other molecules in skin and interfere with skin’s natural inner defenses. Exposure to sun’s damaging rays, car exhaust, ozone, pollution and other environmental hazards are known to amplify free radical production. Antioxidants are super-nutrients that literally wipe out free radicals before they do their damage. And in every field of health, from internal medicine to dermatology to dentistry and nutrition, research is proving that antioxidants do help slow the aging process.
Q: What makes White Tea such a powerful antioxidant?
A: White Tea, known as Yinzhen (silver needles), is produced exclusively in China, mainly in the high mountains of the Fujian Province. It is picked for a few short days each spring from the Camellia sinensis plant, when the white buds are just growing. Only the youngest leaves are selected. Up to 80,000 hand-plucked shoots are needed to produce just one pound of this rare, aromatic tea. The leaves are then gently fermented for only a short duration in natural sunlight. The absence of additional processing is what distinguishes White Tea from other teas and infuses it with its myriad of health-promoting benefits. Researchers speculate that this minimal processing maintains White Tea’s high level of antioxidants.
Q: How was White Tea tested?
A: Several years ago, scientists at University Hospitals of Cleveland and Case Western Reserve University demonstrated that the antioxidants in White Tea are effective in boosting the immune function of skin cells and protecting them against the damaging effects of the sun and aging. Scientists applied a White Tea extract cream to skin that is not ordinarily exposed to sunlight, while another area was left unprotected. Both areas were then exposed to artificial sunlight. Researchers then reapplied the White Tea extract to the area previously coated. Three days later the scientists compared the patches of skin on a cellular level. They found that the White Tea cream protected the sun-exposed against the destruction that was observed in the skin that was not treated.

Origins used a specialized chamber that simulated ozone at levels that approximate those found in some of the world’s most polluted cities (Beijing, Mexico City, Los Angeles). In this in vitro study - after exposure of only 3 hours, the White Tea-based antioxidant blend in the new A Perfect World™ SPF 25 Age-defense moisturizer with White Tea reduced the damaging effects of simulated ozone by 76.6%, creating a better bubble to protect skin.
