As of July 1, 2007 all Origins North American Retail Stores and U. S. manufacturing facilities will offset 100% the CO2 emissions from our electricity usage with the purchase of wind energy renewable energy certificates.

Pollution-producing, coal-fired power plants are responsible for one-third of the CO2 that’s pumped into the atmosphere in the US, equal to two giga-tons. Wind energy is the alternative clean source of electricity produced when specially designed turbines capture the wind to generate electricity. This natural, inexhaustible source of energy requires no fuel and produces no pollution. Because of these environmental advantages, it is the fastest-growing energy source in the world.
At a time when decreasing our reliance on fossil fuels has never been more important, U.S. wind energy potential is estimated at more than twice the total electricity generated from all sources in America today, and this resource will never run out. |
