Since we launched in 1990, Origins has been one of the most recognized natural cosmetic brands. And among the things we are most noted for is our long-standing commitment to protect the planet, its resources and all those who populate it. Our products are manufactured using a combination of renewable resources, wind energy and earth-friendly practices. And we use recycled materials wherever possible.
Origins has partnered with Community Energy Inc. to purchase wind generated power to offset electricity used in its North American stand-alone retail stores. Wind energy is a natural, inexhaustible source of energy that requires no fuel and produces no pollution. By purchasing wind power for our retail stores, Origins will use less grid electricity, achieving a CO2 reduction equivalent to planting 788,589 trees or removing 825 cars from the road.
And by helping to fund the building of additional turbines with Community Energy, we will achieve a further reduction in CO2 emissions equivalent to planting 61,562 trees or not driving 783,945 miles in a car on an annual basis.
As a result of these efforts, Origins has been recognized as one of the top 30 companies by the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Power Partnership as a result of its purchasing of 100 percent green power. Combined, these purchases amount to more than 3 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) annually.
And with these combined efforts, Origins as already planted the equivalent to 1.25 million trees. |
